It's Been Really Freaking Hot This Summer

There have been record high temperatures all over the US and it's been 100 out again in DC this week.  Dealing with the heat can be a miserable endeavor and a shock to your electric bill as the AC cranks but it's nothing compared to the drought issues the same global heat wave has been contributing to or the fact that all of the ice in Greenland is melting...

That's a pretty scary picture, details and context from NASA available here.  Suffice it to say that the scientists working on this thought for sure that their instruments were malfunctioning at first.

Prince Fielder Goes Infielder Bowling

Submitted for your approval and enjoyment, perhaps the best animated gif of the baseball season...

The folks at Hardball Talk get the credit for this bit of genius.  Meanwhile the Big League Stew team has a catalog of the Prince of the basepaths demonstrating various sliding forms and styles, some of which are much more interesting than others.

Welcome To Bricktimore

This is easily the best Wire take off / spoof / homage I've seen in quite some time, maybe ever...

I really liked season 2, but then again I spent a bunch of time working on boats.

SCOTUS Healthcare Ruling Catch Up

I was on vacation when it all went down, seems like a long time ago already doesn't it?  Anyway I got caught up via the Daily Show, Jon...

How does it taste, I ask you.

And if you want to know more about the movings and shakings at the Supreme Court, SCOTUSblog has been doing great work for years now.

The Boss Is Dead. Long Live The Boss.

This short film made me laugh...

Glad I don't ride a cubicle or work in a nut house like that.

(Apologies to whoever pointed it out to me as I've lost track and can't give you proper credit.)

Let's Rock

This video is pretty great, at the very least it's guaranteed to get your head nodding and your toes tapping...

I love the segues that he worked out.  If you don't have 12 minutes to check the whole thing out, just click around randomly for a bit it's totally worth it.

NPR had a great interview with Alex Chadwick, the guitarist behind the video, this morning.  you should check it out as well.
