Wear. Sunscreen.

Seriously kids, folks aren't kidding around when they tell you to put on sunscreen...

Dude drove a truck for years sans sunscreen, guess which side of the road they drive on where he's from.  The New England Journal of Medicine breaks it all down in a more serious and studious manner if you're interested, but the take away is pretty clear.

Mitt Romney Is A Real Piece Of Work

He also thinks that you're stupid, or at the very least that he can slip one (or just about anything) by you.  For over a year now the former Massachusetts governor has been saying pretty much whatever he thinks a given audience might want to hear (the trees in Michigan ring a bell? grits? saying y'all? the list goes on my friends).

His latest is a real doozy though, today Romney bashed President Obama for not having a jobs plan (despite the fact that he's had a plan for more than a little while now, never mind the truth though it just gets in the way) and in the next breath went after Obama for pointing out that the GOP is blocking his jobs plan.  The mind boggles.

Greg Sargent has more if you think you can stomach it.

Color Film Existed In 1939

And someone had a reel of it at the World Series...

The music might be a tad much, but it's always cool to see color footage from earlier than you were expecting.

Keeping It Together

Can be hard to do in the middle of an argument on national (or at least regional) tv when your gum falls out and hit the due you're jawing with...

They definitely almost lose it (see what I did there?); it's too bad we don't have footage of Bobby Valentine once he's back in the dugout.

By the way, animated gifs are awesome and I'm really quite surprised that they haven't made an appearance here before now.

Read This Now - The Death Star Just Isn't Worth It

Gregory Koger has easily the best piece on way over thinking the Death Star and applying real life theories and science etc to it's existence and use...

I have two thoughts to add. First, the Death Star is a bit misunderstood. It is primarily a tool of domestic politics rather than warfare, and should be compared to alternative means of suppressing the population of a galaxy. Second, as a weapon of war, it should be compared to alternative uses of scarce defense resources. Understood properly, the Death Star is not worth it.
If you have a liberal arts education or just like reading and thinking about things (and lets be honest, you probably wouldn't be here if you didn't) then you should read the whole thing.
